چکیده
AbstractThe exponential growth in demand for digital services drives massive datacenter energy consumption and negative environmental impacts. Promoting sustainable solutions to pressing infrastructure challenges is crucial. Several hyperscale cloud providers have announced plans power their datacenters using renewable energy. However, integrating renewables the challenging because generation intermittent, necessitating approaches tackle supply variability. Hand engineering domain-specific heuristics-based schedulers meet specific objective functions such complex dynamic green environments time-consuming, expensive, requires extensive tuning by domain experts. The need smart systems system software employ multiple sources (wind solar) intelligently adapting computing generation. We present RARE (Renewable Aware Resource management), a Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) job scheduler that automatically learns effective scheduling policies while continually datacenters’ environment. resulting DRL performs better than heuristic with different workloads adapts intermittent from renewables. demonstrate design parameters that, when tuned correctly, produce performance. Finally, we can learn improve upon existing Offline Learning.KeywordsRenewable energyDatacentersJob schedulingDeep reinforcement learning

Energy-Efficient and Thermal-Aware Resource Management for Heterogeneous Datacenters
We propose in this paper to study the energy-, thermaland performance-aware resource management in heterogeneous datacenters. Witnessing the continuous development of heterogeneity in datacenters, we are confronted with their different behaviors in terms of performance, power consumption and thermal dissipation: Indeed, heterogeneity at server level lies both in the computing infrastructure (co...

Cloud Computing, the long-held dream of computing as a utility, has the potential to transform a large part of the IT industry, making software even more attractive as a service and shaping the way IT hardware is designed and purchased. Virtualization technology forms a key concept for new cloud computing architectures. The data centers are used to provide cloud services burdening a significant...

متن کاملManaging Green Datacenters Powered by Hybrid Renewable Energy Systems
The rapidly growing server energy expenditure and the warning of climate change have forced the IT industry to look at datacenters powered by renewable energy. Existing proposals on this issue yield sub-optimal performance as they typically assume certain specific type of renewable energy sources and overlook the benefits of cross-source coordination. This paper takes the first step toward expl...
متن کاملDynamic Resource Provisioning in Datacenters using Profitability-aware VM Placement
With the ever-spreading user-base in cloud datacenters, it has become increasingly challenging to satisfy each user’s service demand. Resource requirements or service demands of cloud users are embedded in virtual machines (VM). Virtual machines are software extensions of physical machines such that a single physical machine can generate a number of virtual machines and hence, can service multi...
